_{HE SITS DRAPED IN melancholy soliloquy, his lonely nature bittersweet as grass turns from SOFT && tickling to hard as knives, frosted BLADES against his ankles, crunching as a leg SHIFTS over them idly. the only warmth comes at seeing how NATURALLY otabek cares for the halfling child that has grown so attached to him, but even THAT cannot melt his frozen heart, cannot burn away the storm clouds shrouding the SPARK of his eyes. he’s come to care too much, && now he must pay the price for such foolish attachment.}

_{gut instinct leaves him PULLING back as the hand finds his face, though only a heartbeat later, he sags back into that hand. his eyes CLOSE, unable to remove himself entirely from the affection now that it is shown to him.      ‘      i don’t need a BABYSITTER.

Deep gaze glances down at the ice that forms at the other’s feet, noting it though not bringing it up. There’s something to be said for the entire location; alone and in nature, peaceful yet entirely alone all in the same breath. Momentarily his gaze drifts to the child, watching as small wings flutter as he explores nature, a soft warning to not go too far from otabek keeps him close by but not attached as he once had been.

When Yura pulls from his hand hurt flashes behind his eyes, expression changing for a mere moment before then turning back to their soft, warm gaze when he sags in. “I’m not being your babysitter,” he replies, his voice firm despite it’s gentle tone. Leaning down he brushes their lips together for a moment, “I’m only interested in you.” The words are a promise, only for Yuri to hear, words meant solely for the fairy prince.

He can’t help it, the other is too easy to get going, and it’s funny to see him come to life in such a way. It reminds Otabek that while he’s a champion, he’s still able to laugh and have fun. “Mmm, that you have, but we don’t know what he’ll come back.” that’s a grin as he watches the other. “You’ve always been a threat, but now it’s more real.”

STEP FALLS INTO STEP AS they walk together, his cheek dipping to the side, GRAZING otabek’s arm as he nudges his own slender frame against his side. ever so slowly, a smile spreads over his lips, twisting UPWARDS towards the beginnings of dimples, his eyes LIGHTING up farther with each step he takes out of the airport. ‘ a CAB. is that OKAY ? i’m not quite up to par with DRIVING yet. ‘ he says it with a sheepish smile, lips TINGING pink as he glances up at the other.

As he drags his single luggage bag he watches the other, shifting arm so that Yuri can move in closer. They’re getting closer to the doors that will lead them outside, and otabek hopes the dressed appropriately in a slightly heavier than light jacket. “A cab is perfectly fine with me, I was thinking about renting a car in advance but then I had a flight after it closed.” That’s a smile, “I might tomorrow.”

whether otabek means to make him feel bad or not, guilt still pricks at his gut. nothing intense like it had the potential to be, thank God, but it’s still there. it’s not enough to have him duck out of practicing early before the others get there. it’d just be him and otabek, and… otabek might intimidate him. just a little. or a lot. the guy’s not bad, not by a longshot. he’s just…

um…

otabek?

yuuri doesn’t know any other way to put it. the laces are tied nice and tight, he makes sure the guards are still fitting snugly around the blades.

“i’m not much of a morning person,” he says quietly, “but sometimes the others can be overwhelming, so i just come early for a few laps around the rink to warm up.” viktor usually comes in just a little bit after. how the guy manages to juggle not only being his coach but also working on his own program, yuuri doesn’t know. he’s a weird russian alien.

eyes lift curiously when he finally brings his gaze to the young man across the way. one slow blink, followed by two quick ones.

“still working on that,” yuuri admits. “i have some ideas. i just need to figure out which one to use… what about you?”

There’s no means to intimidate the other away from the rink, he understands that it isn’t his own private ice rink and besides he enjoys the other’s company well enough. Yuuri isn’t loud and obnoxious like some of the other skaters that will join them soon enough, and he likes the quietness that’ll fill the rink. It allows him time to concentrate, to think about anything that he needs to.

One last glance over his blades and some rearranging of his bag and he stands, moving to tuck his bag under so it’s out of the way he stretches a bit.

“I prefer mornings,” the reply is soft almost off hand. “I like when the ice is quiet, when you can really hear yourself think.” There’s a small shrug as he thinks that his coach will be here soon. “Besides it gives my coach and I more time to work out difficult things without a crowded space to work them.” He knows that their time is very limited, and while nothing is overly difficult so far they’re still working things.

He glances at the other arching a brow at the fact that he’s staring at him. There’s nothing different from his usual stance and expression, but he gives him a small head tilt towards the rink.

“I believe I have an idea,” he thinks about it, “though nothing set in stone.”

LISTEN I’m sorry I haven’t been here I have really zero excuse except I’ve had zero drive to write due to some personal stresses and stuff. That being said I’m going to TRY to get on here tonight and tomorrow and get back to a regular routine. That being said right now I have a pretty nasty sinus headache that might? result in me needing to go to the doctor because there is no relief whatsoever and it my eye hurts so bad.
